About Michelle

Hi there!

Thanks for stopping by! I’m Michelle – Wife to my trophy husband Ryan, mama to the sweetest little boy Nathan, and fur mama to two quirky hounds, Maggie and Casey.

My journey in health began after high school when I struggled heavily with anxiety, weight gain, digestive issues and more. I felt trapped in my own skin. I doubted my body’s ability to heal, and I thought that the way I was feeling was just “how it was supposed to be.” I was so used to feeling terrible that it had become my “normal.”

I was sick of feeling sick, which began my search for ways that I might heal my body naturally. I was shocked to realize that everything I was going through could be traced back to the things on my plate! I couldn’t believe it – I was making myself sick! A few simple tweaks in my diet coupled with a huge mindset shift, and my entire life transformed.

In this process of seeking answers for my own healing, I discovered a passion for nutrition and the deep connection that lies between the mind and the body. I wanted to shout what I was learning from the rooftops so that no other person would ever have to feel trapped. No other person would have to doubt in their body’s natural ability to THRIVE.

This sparked a desire to learn as much as possible about holistic nutrition; That is, healing the WHOLE person – Mind, body and spirit. After completing a diploma in Nutrition from ICS Canada, a 200-hour Yoga Teacher Training certification from Pranashanti Yoga Centre, and several years in Applied Human Nutrition at Mount Saint Vincent University in Nova Scotia, I am now in the process of completing my education as a Registered Holistic Nutritionist through Nutraphoria School of Holistic Nutrition.

Throughout my time in school and before chasing the love of my life across the country for his job (A whole other story in itself!), I was employed as a Naturopathic Health Advisor for a local clinic. I offered 1:1 support and meal planning for those in the midst of their quest to better health. I loved it so much I went on to start a small coaching business where I supported hundreds of people in shedding excess weight, gaining confidence and and in finding joy in the journey to their healthiest, happiest selves.

I am also the founder of Free Bird Malas, and I run a FREE online health community where you can chat with lots of others on the neverending journey to their best selves.

So thanks again for stopping by. I hope you find something of value here! Feel free to reach out via Instagram, Facebook or even Pinterest as I absolutely LOVE connecting with you all and hearing your stories!

In health and happiness,
